Vacancy Announcement: Research Lead Global Refugee Research Initiative

The Asia Pacific Network of Refugees (APNOR), in collaboration with ODI Global, is launching a global research initiative aimed at generating rigorous, evidence-based insights into the impact, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability of Refugee-Led Organisations (RLOs).

We are pleased to announce that the deadline for applications for the position of Research Lead has been extended to 21 April 2026.

🔹 About the Role

The Research Lead will provide strategic, technical, and operational leadership for this global research project. The role focuses on ensuring high-quality, credible, and policy-relevant outputs while placing Meaningful Refugee Participation (MRP) at the center of the research process. The successful candidate will contribute to translating research findings into actionable advocacy and systemic change.

🔹 Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of mixed-methods research approaches
• Ensure ethical, participatory, and community-driven research practices
• Oversee project implementation across Asia, Africa, and South America
• Manage timelines, deliverables, and quality standards
• Engage with key stakeholders, including ODI Global, donors, and policymakers
• Lead data analysis and the production of reports and policy briefs

🔹 Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

• Degree in social sciences, development studies, humanitarian studies, or a related field
• 3–6 years of relevant experience in research and policy
• Strong expertise in mixed-methods research design and analysis
• Demonstrated experience in policy-oriented research
• Commitment to ethical and participatory research approaches

Desirable:

• Lived experience of displacement
• Experience working in Global South contexts
• Familiarity with humanitarian financing and localisation discussions
