uOttawa Refugee Hub Fellowship for Refugee Leaders

The uOttawa Refugee Hub Fellowship for Refugee Leaders is a 12-month program designed to mentor and develop refugees with high leadership potential into global leaders. It offers two fellowship positions—one requiring regular travel to Ottawa and another that is fully remote. Each fellow dedicates 20 hours monthly, receiving a $20,000 stipend plus $5,000 for professional development.

The program, run by the University of Ottawa’s Refugee Hub in partnership with Pathways International, seeks to enhance protection pathways for refugees and migrants and reform global systems providing safe, legal routes. Fellows will either focus on global projects (Global Pathways stream) or nonprofit leadership and organizational strategy (Strategic Leadership stream). They will also help develop a mentorship model for refugee leaders.

Applicants should have lived experience of forced displacement, demonstrated leadership potential, and experience in refugee-led initiatives. English proficiency is required, and additional language skills are beneficial. The application involves submitting a CV, cover letter, a statement of interest in one of the streams, and a writing sample by April 24, 2024.

Successful fellows will contribute to Pathways International’s mission, gain deep insights into the global refugee system, and join an alumni network post-fellowship to maintain connections and continue impacting the field.
