Employment Conditions for Foreign Nationals in Iran Announced
According to Mehr News Agency, Mojtaba Safai, the head of the Iran Chamber of Guilds, stated that the issue of foreign nationals’ employment is addressed in the third topic of the fifth chapter of the labor law. He noted, ‘Foreign nationals cannot be employed in Iran unless they have a visa with specified work rights and obtain a work permit.’ Therefore, the employment of foreign nationals residing in Iran is subject to two essential conditions: first, having a residency permit with specified work rights, and second, obtaining a work permit.
The work permit for foreign nationals is issued or renewed for a maximum period of one year. This means that after one year, the work permit of a foreign national is considered invalid, and they must take action to renew it.
It is worth mentioning that one of the conditions for issuing a business license for foreign nationals is having a passport and a foreign national’s work permit.
