Details
The Department of International Refugee Law and Migration Law (hereinafter: the Department) of the International Institute of Humanitarian Law (hereinafter: the Sanremo Institute), Sanremo –Italy, calls for applications for the position of Coordinator (Complementary Pathways).
The Institute, through the Department, aims at enhancing the knowledge and skills of government and civilsociety officials engaged in work with people in need of protection, namely refugees, internally displaced person (IDPs), stateless people and migrants. Through its training, capacity-building and horizontal sharing of experiences, the Department advocates forthe safeguarding of human rights in a way that complements and adds to the efforts of relevant stakeholdersin this field of protection. The Institute has a consolidated reputation worldwide and a long-lastingcooperation with international organizations, such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees – UNHCR, the International Organization for Migration – IOM, and the International Committee of the Red Cross – ICRC.
The Department has actively promoted third-country complementary pathways, educating diverse stakeholders on their merits in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and other key stakeholders. This has resulted in two Online International Forums on Complementary Pathways, attended by over 250 practitioners from 100+ countries. The Forum, featuring experts from around the globe, offers a platform for awareness raising, best practices, and problem-solving.
The ideal candidate shares our values in promoting respect for international law and safeguarding human rights through compelling content in diverse formats. S/he is an independent, proactive team player with solid interpersonal skills. S/he can provide thorough insights on how the Department’s engagement in third-country complementary pathways for refugees can be further expanded.

Applicants from the Global South with a background of forcible displacement or statelessness are encouraged to apply. - Starting date: earliest possible and no later than 15 November 2023
