Job Summary
Consultancy Opportunity: Protection and Assistance for Afghans in Mixed Movements
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) and the Mixed Migration Centre (MMC) are seeking a consultant to conduct research on the risks faced by Afghan migrants traveling through Pakistan and Türkiye. This research utilizes 4Mi data, which includes over 6,000 surveys and qualitative interviews with Afghan migrants, to analyze migration patterns, protection risks, and assistance gaps.
Key Research Objectives:
Map protection risks for Afghan migrants, including violence, detention, trafficking, and smuggling.
Assess the role of smugglers and the impact on migrants’ safety and access to services.
Provide targeted recommendations for improving protection and addressing assistance gaps.
Background:
Since the Taliban takeover in August 2021, migration patterns have changed significantly, with Afghans facing increasing challenges such as restricted borders, exploitation, and inadequate legal protections. The study aims to provide evidence-based insights to enhance protection efforts for Afghans in transit.
Deliverables:
A comprehensive research report (30 pages max), including an executive summary and actionable recommendations.
Dissemination of findings through MMC’s networks and online presentations.
Consultant Requirements:
Expertise in migration, refugee studies, or related fields.
Proven research skills (quantitative and qualitative analysis).
Familiarity with regional migration policies and Afghan migration dynamics.
Strong stakeholder networks and experience in refugee governance.
How to Apply:
Interested candidates must submit proposals by 25 November 2024. Full details and tender documents are available here.
