The call for input is an invitation from the Special Rapporteur on Afghanistan for contributions to an upcoming report on the institutionalized system of discrimination, segregation, disrespect for human dignity, and exclusion of women and girls in Afghanistan. This report is scheduled for presentation to the Human Rights Council during its 56th session in June 2024. Stakeholders, including States, UN bodies, international organizations, civil society organizations, academics, victims’ groups, legal practitioners, and others, are encouraged to share relevant information and experiences related to the specified topics.

The types of input sought include personal experiences of human rights violations, specific accounts of discrimination and exclusion faced by women and girls in Afghanistan, information on accountability initiatives for justice and reparations, and suggestions for strategies and support mechanisms to improve the lives of women, girls, and sexual and gender minorities in Afghanistan. Responses should focus on firsthand research and analysis, with a word limit specified for each question. Inputs are to be submitted via email by 17 March 2024, in either Dari, Pashto, or English. Submitters are asked to indicate whether their submission can be uploaded to the mandate’s website, with those lacking explicit consent to be treated as confidential.
