An educational center for Afghan immigrants in Pakistan is closing due to financial difficulties
Officials at the Aftab Cultural and Educational Center in Islamabad, Pakistan, say the center is shutting down due to “financial problems.”
Seyed Hashem Hashemi, the head of the center, told the Daily Information newspaper today (Tuesday, April 24) that the center educates Afghan immigrant children from first to ninth grade.
He added that in addition to the Afghan education curriculum, English language was also taught.
According to Mr. Hashemi, the school was established 14 months ago in the “B-17” area of Islamabad and educates 400 students, most of whom are girls.
He says the expenses of the school have so far been covered by himself, his wife, his brother, and his brother’s wife, and only Sami Hamed has contributed $3,800 to their efforts.
Mr. Hashemi states that their funds will run out in another month, and the school will completely close.
